The Tire Cologne, the International trade show of the Tire industry is to be held between May 29th – June 1st, 2018 where the industry meets for the first time this year. The show would be a great mark of events as the organizers of the cologne are offering a special spotlight for wheel accessories, retreading and recycling business of tires.

The press release from Tire- cologne has confirmed more than 100 key players in the industry to exhibit at the trade fair. In the UK and Ireland March is a month dedicated to women with both Mother’s Day and International Women’s Day occurring on this month. For the occasion, we wanted to take a closer look at men and women’s driving patterns and behaviours and we found out something very interesting.

Research shows women are more competent than men behind the wheel.Regular drivers, especially young ones, are more likely to be distracted while driving, the study found. Older women were much better at controlling their distractions and paying attention to the road ahead. Distraction is estimated to be responsible for an eighth of all road accidents.

The research, carried out by Norwegian scientists, looked at how personal traits such as age, gender and personality affect driver distraction. According to the said research, 12% of accidents are caused by distraction.

The survey found out that young men were the most prone to distraction along with regular drivers and those with neurotic or extroverted personalities. But older women and those who felt that they could control their distracted behaviour were less likely to report a distraction, according to the study published in Frontiers in Psychology.

In other tests from a 2015 research, men and women conformed to gender stereotypes – with men more likely to take risks, drive too close to the car in front, cut corners, go through lights on amber or talk and text at the wheel. By contrast, women are more likely to be courteous and considerate, take care when approaching potential hazards, use their mirrors correctly and stop at lights when they turn amber.

Co Longford is one of the counties in Ireland, approximately 1h e 30 minutes drive from Dublin. It takes the name from Longford, which is the main town. Our drive took almost two hours and took us to a place called Aughnacliffe, which where Paul Kennedy lives.

Paul is a drifter. He regularly competes in the Irish Drifting Championship and is supported by ZEETEX . He welcomes us at Mckeon’s Garage, which is where his car is parked during the off-season.

We asked Paul how he and ZEETEX started working together.

“This is the fourth year I have been supported by ZEETEX – started Paul. In 2014 I was competing at the Global Warfare with a very underpowered car. I was lucky enough to have a good run. I qualified in second position, which was very surprising for such an underpowered car. The video of that run went viral and had more than 100,000 views. With those numbers I was able to approach ZEETEX and we started working together”.

Paul was also very keen on highlighting the benefits of running ZEETEX tyres

“I run HP 1000 tyres – he continued. They are really good tyres. I tried a couple of high-end brands and I wasn’t happy with them. When the tyres got hot the tyre would start peeling off. This doesn’t happen with ZEETEX tyres. Also with standard tyre you might get 4-6 laps, while with ZEETEX tyres you might get up to 10 laps”.
